The size of your heart is about the size of your fist. The coronary arteries are blood vessels which supply the heart muscle with necessary oxygen and nutrients. The right coronary artery feeds the right side and bottom of the heart. The left anterior descending feeds the front of the heart, and the circumflex feeds the back of the heart.

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the hardening of the coronary arteries leading to obstruction of the lumen without or symptoms such as chest discomfort or shortness of breath on exertion.

The main causes of CHD are high blood pressure (hypertension), high blood glucose (diabetes mellitus), and high cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia).

Optimal control of these conditions, in addition to maintenance of a normal weight (BMI = 18.5 – 24.9) and exercise of 30-60 minutes, at least 5 days /week will significantly reduce your risk of CHD.

At Buena Park Heart Center, we are dedicated to treat and prevent cardiovascular conditions with a genuine caring attitude for each patient.
